4 Tips for Selling a Home with Solar Panels
Here in Florida solar panels are a very eco-friendly and economically wise way to power your home. The abundance of sunshine makes solar systems very popular in the state, but it is important that you take the 4 following steps when selling a home with solar panels in order to ensure that you are getting top dollar for this incredible home value-add.
Find out if the solar system is owned or leased. This is the foremost question to ask because this determines if the new owner will have to take over payments on the system or will own them outright.
Have a legal or solar professional review the lease (if applicable). Having a third party review the terms of the lease is very important to ensure that all parties involved have a thorough understanding of what the lease entails.
Be sure to have the panels inspected. You want to know the current state of the system, ensure functionality, and evaluate system performance. It is important to have this completed by a third party to help evaluate the amount of value that the system adds to the home.
Work with your title company. They will be able to ensure that there are not any liens on the solar panels and prevent legal problems down the road.
