Hometown Heroes Update

In June of 2022 the State of Florida launched their Hometown Heroes housing assistance program. This ground-breaking program allows thousands of Florida residents the ability to get down payment and closing cost assistance from the state. Hometown Heroes was designed to help local “heroes” become homeowners in the state where they serve, supporting dozens of categories including veterans, nurses, teachers, law enforcement, and many more. 

Over the course of the first year of the program, 6,753 hometown heroes have been assisted with $100 million in funds for down payments and closing costs. Because of this massive success, the state has expanded the program to include even more support to a broader range of people. On July 1st this expansion will update the existing program by adding an additional $100 million in funding as well as increasing the maximum amount of down payment assistance to $35,000 or up to 5% of the mortgage amount.
