The Latest Kitchen Design Trend

Over the past several years there have been a number of hot trends in the world of kitchen design. All white kitchens had a moment where white cabinets were paired with white countertops to present a bright and clean aura. There has also been the trend of statement cabinet colors where the majority of the design in the kitchen is kept simple but the cabinets are painted a bolder color like blue with gold fixtures to make them pop. Both of these trends have continued to be in fashion, but one of the latest up and coming styles we have seen in kitchens has been the contrasting countertop. 

This style is characterized by a standard kitchen design with simple colors for the cabinets and another clean color for the majority of the countertops. The one aspect that makes this style stand out is choosing a different countertop material for the island. This design trend helps to make the island truly feel like an island, a separate part of the kitchen from the regular countertop. When incorporating this trend into a kitchen design it is important to avoid clashing countertop patterns. Generally one is a solid design and the other is patterned, further adding to the contrast. One of the most popular ways that this style is adopted is by using butcher block or a wood look for the island like below.
