Over the past several years there has been an increased interest in integrating technology into the home. As products such as smart appliances, thermostats, and home security devices continue to become more affordable, we will likely see this trend continue. Here is a quick breakdown on what these devices are and the impact that they can have on your home.

Smart Appliances: This is a very broad category that encompasses many of the devices that you use daily in your home. Smart fridges are now doing things like integrating touch screens that allow you to write grocery lists directly onto the fridge that can be sent to your phone. Smart washers and dryers are able to be started remotely and will send a notification to your phone to let you know when your load is done. There are even smart ovens that can be preheated on your way home from the store so that you can pop dinner in as soon as you arrive and save time putting food on the table. The integration of internet-connected devices is likely to continue on this trajectory as more and more people begin to adopt this technology and the prices of these devices continue to come down.

Smart Faucets: This category of home technology has been growing even faster than others due to it’s lower price point. It is much less of an expense to swap your faucet for a smart one compared to replacing a large appliance like an oven. These smart faucets are a huge timesaver in the kitchen as they allow you to do things like turn water off and on hands free, preventing you from having to get the faucet dirty when you are handling food and trash. Some of these devices can even release portioned amounts of water, freeing you from breaking out a measuring cup when you need exactly 8 ounces of water for your latest recipe.
