• Call ahead for pricing information. Prices can vary between stores and even between websites, so it is a good idea to call and see what the current deals and prices are at the store you are planning to shop at. 

• Walk a little farther! The latest designs are likely to be right up front of the store, but last year's designs and scratch and dent models are usually further back or towards the corners. There is a lot of money to be saved simply by looking a little farther away from the door. 

• Don’t be afraid to bargain. Some furniture salesmen have a degree of discretion to reduce prices just like when you haggle with a car salesman. It will not hurt to ask, and even if they can’t cut the price for you they may still be able to find a coupon that applies or recommend an upcoming sale event. 

• If you really love an old piece of furniture but it is on its last legs, take a fraction of the money you would spend on a new one and put it towards refurbishing it. A little sandpaper and paint can breathe new life into a tired piece!
