Historically, winter has been one of the best times to secure a home at a lower price. Data from NAR shows that last year, home prices were at their lowest in January, February, and March—just before the spring market surge pushed prices higher.
Bright MLS also found that between 2010 and 2024, home prices in January and February were, on average, 15% lower than the peak pricing months of June and July. Buying in winter allows you to avoid paying a premium during the high-demand season.
