The Impact of Staging
One of the biggest questions a potential home buyer will ask themselves as they tour a home is “Can I picture myself living here?". A buyer is going to want to envision themself spending 8+ hours a day in the space for the next several years, and there is an easy way that a seller can make that happen: staging.
Staging a home is the practice of setting up the space in a way that is optimal for prospective buyers. Depending on the property this could mean decluttering a space, bringing in furniture, adding accent pieces, or a number of other interior design options. The overall goal is to make the home shine and put it’s best foot forward so that it can sell quickly and for as much money as possible.
According to the National Association of Realtors 48% of sellers agents say that staging decreases a property’s time on the market. Additionally, 20% of agents say that staging increases the dollar value of offers by 1-5%. This means that spending just a little bit of time and money can make a difference of thousands of dollars.
